What customers say?

“ Sushi bar Sasaki had delightfully fresh sushi full of flavor. This restaurant is right next to the seaside, allowing for the restaurant to source its product locally with ease. There is a free parking lot, but only enough space for about 8 or so cars. A table for 5 people was available upon arriving. However, seats filled up quickly as time went on. If you're ever visiting the Iwate prefecture, this restaurant is a must try if you're looking for some fantastic fish. ”

“ My family recommended this restaurant and I finally got to go. It was a clean place and the staff were very attentive. I had my favorite fried shrimp set meal. The shrimp was plump and delicious, and one in particular was extra-large and very filling. My family also ordered a seafood bowl, and they said the fresh sashimi was delicious. The raw oysters were also large and very tasty. I would definitely like to go back to this restaurant again. ”

“ Around 2020, the owner of a sushi restaurant in Miyako told me about this restaurant's delicious sushi, so I ordered 10 pieces of sushi for 3,000 yen. It was so fresh and delicious, I was really impressed. I was passing by in July 2025, so I was able to visit again for the first time in a while. I ordered the same 10 pieces of sushi I ordered back then and the conger eel bowl. Mmm!!! It's delicious as always! The freshness of the ingredients is on a different level from the sushi restaurants near my house. The day before, I went to a sushi restaurant in Minamisanriku and ate some delicious sushi, but sushi in Tohoku is amazing! The conger eel bowl was also delicious, with the conger eel melting in my mouth! I was very satisfied and want to come again. ”

“ With a beautiful counter and ample raised seating, you can enjoy high-quality sushi and seafood. Sasaki is your first choice for fresh Yamada Bay oysters in the area. The Yamada oysters are large, rich, and exquisite (visited in March). Scallops are also farmed in Yamada Bay, but shellfish toxin levels are strictly controlled, and they are no longer available when levels rise. Local sea urchins are only available in early summer, and are imported from other prefectures at other times of the year. Apparently, this restaurant was built five or six years ago after the land was reconstructed, and we hope it continues to thrive as a restaurant serving delicious sushi. ”

“ This was my third visit. Because it's so close to the sea, it seems like they're always fresh and ready to serve. (The abalone was incredibly crunchy, lol.) The fish was also very fresh and flavorful, a testament to the chef's careful preparation. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, is very clean, and feels great. If you sit at the counter, you can watch the chef carefully handle the ingredients. (I was engrossed for about 10 minutes, lol.) If you're looking for a seafood bowl, fresh oysters, and abalone, this is definitely worth a visit. Also, it can feel rushed if you go during busy times, so if you want to take it easy, it's best to visit at a slightly different time. ”

“ I visited for lunch. The sushi was very satisfying, with generous portions of toppings and rice. The seafood bowl was delicious, with plenty of toppings. The conger eel bowl was also delicious, with plenty of conger eel. You can choose between white rice and vinegared rice for your bowl. Even ordering a large portion didn't change the price. The toppings seem to vary slightly depending on the day. May 4, 2011, in the middle of Golden Week, I arrived at 11:30 AM, right when they opened, expecting it to be busy, but there was already only one parking space available. I ordered 10 pieces of sushi for 3,000 yen and 7 pieces of sushi and a hand roll for 1,700 yen. For the 10 pieces, I got fresh raw sea urchin without alum, a first this year. The 7 pieces usually consist of 8 pieces and a hand roll, but today it was really just 7 pieces. Was this a freebie before? 10 pieces, 3,000 yen, serves 3, takeout I got takeout for the first time in a while, while raw sea urchin was in season. The toppings are large and thick, making for a satisfying meal. The fresh sea urchin, medium fatty tuna, and fatty tuna were all particularly delicious this time. Bara Chirashi: ¥1,500 + free extra rice 8 pieces of nigiri sushi and hand rolls: ¥1,700 If the amount of nigiri sushi isn't enough for you, I recommend the bara chirashi. A free extra serving of rice is also available, and it's topped with plenty of finely seasoned toppings. There's also a generous amount of salmon roe, but personally I'm not a fan of the taste of frozen salmon roe, so if you don't mind, I think it'll be delicious. ”

“ I have nothing more to say! Perfect! My favorite raw oysters were big, plump, and delicious! We also had a set of seven sushi rolls and a sushi roll. The toppings and rice were both large and satisfying! The chef and staff were so kind, we wanted to stay longer! I mentioned that I wanted to feed my daughter, who has a small appetite, and they said they would accommodate... So, we went back two days after our first visit! lol They served smaller portions to suit my daughter's small appetite. My daughter was so impressed with the fresh, non-conveyor-belt sushi! She said she wants to go again, so I'd like to go again this summer. I want everyone to try it too! It's so amazing! July 15, 2023 (Sat) Today, I came here for the sea urchin bowl. As others have mentioned, you can choose between rice or vinegared rice. I chose vinegared rice and they accommodated me with a smaller portion. Sea urchin! The amount of sea urchin in the sea urchin bowl was incredible! More than I expected! The taste was of course the bestThe miso soup with shrimp head broth was also deliciousAnd we also had sea squirt sashimiIt was served in its shell‼It was also delicious‼My daughter, who had been suffering from a sore mouth ulcer and could only eat sashimi, was envious of the treat and said, "I want to try it next time too!" ”

“ 2023.05.12 The restaurant in Otsuchi Town that I wanted to go to for lunch was closed, so I quickly searched for nearby restaurants. I found a great restaurant in Yamada! What a hit! The interior is very clean, with a faint smell of wood in the air. I sat at the counter and checked the lunch menu. I ordered a seafood bowl, and since I'd come all the way to Yamada, I also ordered oysters. Oysters: They were so big, thick and rich, it was hard to fit them in one bite! So delicious! Seafood bowl: You can choose whether to have vinegared rice or not. The rice was slightly warm. The toppings were excellent and there was a wide variety. It was a flawless seafood bowl. I had a fun conversation with the staff, and they introduced me to the restaurant in Morioka where I was staying (the chef! I actually went there!). It was a very satisfying lunch! I'll definitely go again! ”
